Here's my latest. It is the Magician Caroline (1/6 scale) figure from ORI @ E2046. I have painted her based on the Lineage II art for the Kamael's final form. I have also built a custom backdrop for her that is roughly based on the cathedral in a Lineage II elf vs. dark elf video I found online. The cathedral is made from plaster casts ... the walls themselves are just slabs cast using legos as forms. All of the cool arches and pillars are made using molds from Hirst Arts. I made the rose window in Photoshop ... I found a line drawing of a rose window online and colored it to mesh with Caroline's colors and printed it out on photo paper ... I attached a light behind the window so that it would glow nicely.
thank you so much ... I use vallejo model and vallejo game colour paints almost exclusively. However, I thin them quite a bit and use a lot of watercolor techniques like wet-blending to get the smooth transitions.
You did an amazing job, that's for sure. So you don't use airbrush at all?
I'm about to paint my first Anime garage kit. I have only painted 28 mm resin and plastic figures like warhammer before. I have painted about 3 years. I don't now if I'm going to paint my anime figure with regular brush or airbrush?
Hello. I have never used an airbrush. So, I can't comment intelligently about them. To get the subtle blends, I use techniques similar to watercolor painting and to that end, you want to buy good sable brushes (I use Winsor & Newton miniature watercolor brushes) and good paints (I use Vallejo Model and Vallejo Game Colour paints almost exclusively). Better paint means richer pigment, which means you can thin the paint a lot and still get good coverage. Thin paint and good brushes means cleaner blends and no brush marks and therefore a cleaner look.
I know that only helps so much, but if you start painting and need some pointers, don't hesitate to drop me a note. I'm glad to help when I can.
thank you that's very kind of you. What kind of courses do you think is best to attend to learn the techniques you use on your models? I mean I don't think I can fined a course on how to paint anime garage kit. But you said that you uses water color techniques ore similar to, So maybe some of them?
Yea Vallejo model color is good I have some of them my self. the game color is OK too I guess, But I don't get them to work with my airbrush. the pigments separates on the object. The game color are made with the purpose of playing and handling the minis much. and to gain one property you need to loos an outer, you now what I mean!? Have you notes any differences between the Vallejo model and game color? By the way, do you now if the colors are named after the artist Boris Vallejo?
PS: Thanks for the recommendation of the W&W sable brushes. I have some Kolinsky my self but I think they are in a cheaper standard.
I've never taken any painting courses, but I did read a few books on watercolor painting ... if you can find a nice step-by-step watercolor book, you might check that out. You might also check out a site called coolminiornot ... if you've never been there, lots of amazingly painted minis (thousands of artists post their work there) and lots of forums and articles with how-tos. As to Game vs. Model colour ... I have found that some of the game colour paints are kinda strangely "gooey"/ slick and don't have very good coverage. I've never had that problem w/ any of the model colour paints, but the model colour paints tend to have less "exciting" colors.

Have you tried both ?
